New Image Maxi-Glider 360 Review

Does The Range Of Motion In The New Image Maxi-Glider 360 Help?

New Image Maxi-Glider 360Cross trainers and elliptical machines are appealing because of the range of motion but the New Image Maxi-Glider 360 may have them beaten.

This model is designed to provide an impressive 360 range of motion for a wider selection of exercises.

While this sounds a little daunting to new users, there are also promises that this machine will help all kinds of users find their own rhythm. This is an interesting concept but are buyers able to get the workout they are looking for? Or, is there too much going on for a clean, effective workout?

The Pros and Cons of this New Image Maxi-Glider 360 10 in 1 Cross Trainer.

Pros:

  •  the ability to target so many muscle groups
  •  the independent motion of the footplates
  •  lots of visual guides to help new users
  •  some great results on fitness and toning
  •  a folding frame

Cons:

  •  a squeak that develops in many machines
  •  questions over the positions of the footplates
  •  the length of the arms

This New Image Maxi-Glider 360 Cross Trainer does a lot more than many cross trainers to push different areas of the body.

So, how can this product call itself a 10-in-1 cross trainer? This may have something to do with the fact that it is said to target 10 different muscle groups, rather than there being 10 different exercise modes. This is all down to that 360-degree range of motion and the 4 movement types – glide, rotate, ski and split.

The company also challenges users to do squats and planks on this device. This immediately makes it more interesting than an elliptical machine with a basic stride length.

The system also comes with some nice accessories to help users out a little further. This includes the nutrition and health plan and a wall chart of exercise ideas. These visual aids show that this machine is designed to be part of a wider daily routine and is therefore aimed at the more confident, motivated user.

There is also a console that tracks the progress of the user and a heart rate monitor. If that wasn’t enough, users can install a tablet stand to watch videos as they workout. This all means that there is plenty to keep the user engaged each day.

Despite all of these features, and the prospect of daily use, the company has also created a folding frame so users can put it away when it isn’t required. Users warn that is doesn’t fold flat, but it is still compact enough to store away well. This helps in small apartments.

The construction of this New Image 360 Cross Trainer does let it down in some cases.

This machine is an affordable model compared to some other pieces of gym equipment, especially for the number of exercise options included.

This low price may account for some of the smaller issues mentioned by users. Some have noticed that the machine develops a bit of a squeak and needs lubrication. This noise is pretty annoying after repeated cycles and rotations and doesn’t seem to permanently go away.

On a related note, there have been issues with incorrect screws for the tablet stand. This means that there are some questions over the long term use of the machine.

Otherwise, the complaints are minor. Taller users also say that the arms are a little too short for complete comfort. It might be more accessible to everyone with a few more adjustable elements added to the design in the future.

Also, some question the distance between the footplates for natural motion. It isn’t a natural replication of skiing.

Is this New Image Maxi-Glider System still recommendable with all these drawbacks in mind?

There is a lot here that will appeal to all those that want to push themselves and try a different approach to a traditional trainer. There are some issues with the height and construction that can get a bit annoying.

If you are over 6ft tall and are prepared to perform regular maintenance then this isn’t for you. However, the range of motion and results seen mean that it is right for a large percentage of those that buy it.

Therefore, this New Image cross trainer is best recommended to the more patient user that will play with the different modes and make the most of the wall charts.
